High fuel prices have triggered the development of fuel saving devices, techniques & systems. Some airlines have been using the technique of single-engine taxiiing to save fuel. A new product, WheelTug, takes this technique further. Using specially design electric motors in the aircraft's nosewheel, it allows the aircraft to taxi without engine power. This not only removes the need and costs associated with a conventional pushback, it also saves taxi fuel and brings with it a whole range of other benefits and savings.
