A

Michael Benhamed: Business Development Manager,Flight Operations Services, Aeroconseil
 
Michael Benhamed has 12 years of experience in the airline industry. Michael has worked for 4 years as a Flight Ops Engineer in the Ops Engineering service of the French airline Corsairfly, TUI Group. This first experience allowed him to work on the entry into service of a brand new A330-200, some operational approval such as ETOPS, RVSM, MNPS, route studies, EOSID design, performance monitoring, updates of airline operating manuals, etc. Following this experience, he moved towards a different but as exciting position, becoming the Head of IT for Corsairfly.
 
He worked on Information System improvement, including Business Intelligence solution and new systems leading to more optimised aircraft operations.
 
In 2005, he left Paris for Toulouse, joining Aeroconseil. His role was to launch new services, firstly dedicated to airline documentation management. Michael has launched new services like XML documentation management and he has been in charge of developing a new solution for flight optimisation and control of aircraft operations.
 
More recently, Michael has taken the role of Business Development Manager for Flight Operations Services, including audit and consulting, documentation management, flight safety support with flight data monitoring, and fuel and flight efficiency services based on the new software Flight Efficiency by Aeroconseil.
 
He is an Engineer, graduated from the French National School of Civil Aviation (ENAC) in Toulouse. His education also includes a degree in Air Transport Economy.

Wolfgang Sperber: Administrator EFB and Operations, AeroLogic
 
Wolfgang Sperber started his career as a Flight Operations Officer in German Air Force in 1982. Then followed his studies in Aeronautical Engineering and a position of Air Traffic Control Officer in 1985. In 1990 Wolfgang joined LTU-Süd Munich as Navigation and Flight Planning Officer. Then in 1993 he moved to LTU Düsseldorf heading Navigation and Performance, later - Dispatch and Documentation Departments.  Afterwards, in 2009 Wolfgang joined the Flugwerkzeuge Aviation Software (Flight Planning Software) team in Vienna as a Head of Aeronautical Data Services. Finally, in 2008 he joined the Airline Startup AeroLogic in Leipzig as the Administrator of Flight Operations. His present responsibilities in the company includes the authorization Issues, EFB, NAV-Data, etc.

Alan Pardoe: Head of Marketing Communications, Airbus
 
Alan Pardoe has been appointed Head of Marketing Communications in October 2009, to lead and coordinate the output of the now numerous branches of Airbus marketing.
 
Prior to this, he was appointed A330/A340 Product Marketing Manager in 1997, contributing to the development of the A340-500 and –600 models and, from 2004, the definition and launch of the A350 models.
 
Alan started with Rolls-Royce Scotland as a performance engineer before moving to British Aerospace as a Sales Engineer working on the BAC 1-11 program.
 
On joining Airbus in Toulouse as an Airline Marketing Analyst in 1979, Alan first supported sales campaigns of A300s and A310, followed by A320s, A300s and A340s as each new model was launched.
 
Alan is a Graduate of Glasgow University with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

Peter van den Dorpel: CEO, AlgaeLink N.V.
 
Peter gained extensive experience with GE Plastics and a number of other GE companies, with various senior management roles covering Europe, Middle-/Eastern-Europe and Asia. Peter has accumulated process operations, project, technology, sales, marketing and general management experience during his time with GE, culminating in his appointment as a Managing Director, Europe for GE Capital where he had responsibility for 100 branches.
 
Alongside this depth of technical, business and management experience, Peter has Masters qualifications in Operations Research and Finance, and in Marketing, both gained at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam; at Erasmus University he lectured as an Assistant Professor. At GE, Peter enjoyed MBA Harvard University and Six Sigma Master Black Belt training.
 
In his capacity as CEO of AlgaeLink N.V., Peter has contributed as speaker and panelist in many international conferences about Algae, Biomass, Bio-Fuel, Waste Water Treatment, Climate and Environmental topics. He had exclusive participations in reports and studies on the same topics for the Club of Madrid, the Bellona Foundation and the OECD.
 
Peter is married, has 4 children and loves sailing. He was a publicly elected Water Council Board Member in The Netherlands and serves on the board of a primary school.

Captain Jens Berlinson: Flight Operations Support Manager, CFM
 
 
Jens Berlinson is the Flight Operations Support Manager of CFM organisation in SNECMA side since 2007.
 
 
Prior to join CFM, he spent 20 years in the French Air Force as a fighter pilot, then captain and chief pilot on Boeing C135 FR. He has been type rated on Airbus A320 and still periodically flying the A319 with Brussels Airlines. The past 3 years in CFM organization, have enable Jens to further enhance his expertise in engine operations, airline maintenance costs and fuel savings.

Taylor Bradbury: Aircraft Operations Support Systems Manager, easyJet
 
Taylor is the Aircraft Operations Support Systems Manager for easyJet. He joined easyJet in 2001 as the Operations Information Services Manager responsible for all Performance, Navigation and Weight and Balance Data for the A319 and B737 fleet. In 2004, Taylor took on the role of Aircraft Operations Cost Manager responsible for the investigation, evaluation, and development of cost efficiency initiatives within Operations including fuel conservation. It was during this period that his focus moved on to the capture and dissemination of information to reduce costs and improve efficiency within easyJet.
 
Taylor started his career in the helicopter manufacturing industry with Westland Helicopters but soon moved into the Airline Industry. Taylor spent 16 years working for Saudi Arabian Airlines in Jeddah. As Manager of the Flight Operations Performance Engineering Department he was responsible for all Performance Data used by the Saudi Arabian Line and Royal Fleet. Taylor has an MSc in Air Transport Management from City University London and a BSc in Aeronautical Engineering from Glasgow University. He is married with three children and lives in Dorset.

Guido Harling: Executive Director & Founder, ETSverification GmbH
 
Guido Harling is the founder and lead auditor of ETSverification GmbH, Germany’s first and only verification body dedicated solely to the aviation industry. ETSverification GmbH offers verification services within the framework of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme for aviation and the company is accredited in multiple EU member states. In preparation of emission trading several airlines have engaged ETSverification to assess their compliance readiness. During this optional Pre-Audit which consists of a Compliance Review / ETS Systems Review / ETS Data Analysis airlines benefited from the written Gap-Analysis report that list all Pre-Audit-Issues that could impact the legal audit in an adverse way. In many instances our Pre-Audit helped airlines not only to reduce the risk of a difficult Full-Year-Audit but also discovered how airlines could minimize the reported emissions and increase the all important tonne km number.
 
Guido has a long lasting consulting and auditing background in the aviation industry. He holds a bachelor of science (Dipl. Chem. Ing.) and a master of business (Dipl. Wirt. Ing.) degree. He worked as a business consultant at KPMG US and as an expert advisor for IATA, supporting the rollout of the SIS (Simplified Interline Settlement) program and IATA InvoiceWorks the internet e-Invoicing platform. Finally in 2009 he founded ETSverification, a verification body for the aviation industry with branch offices in New Jersey and Belgrade, headquartered in Münster, Germany.

Dennis Hart: Aviation Meteorology Expert, Eurocontrol
 
Dennis Hart is the EUROCONTROL Aviation Meteorology Expert. Initially an operational forecaster in the Royal Netherlands Air Force, he has experience in Aeronautical Meteorology from the operational, regulatory and policy perspectives. Over the recent years, Dennis represented the Dutch Government and the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) in the appropriate ICAO and World Meteorological Organization (WMO) work with respect to aviation meteorology. Furthermore, he represented the European Aeronautical Meteorological Providers (AVIMET) in the context of the development of Single European Sky regulation and as such represented AVIMET, as the vice-chairman, in the SES Industrial Consultation Body (SES-ICB). In summer 2007, Dennis Hart joined EUROCONTROL with the clear task to facilitate the needed interaction between the MET and ATM communities to better integrate meteorological information into decision making in ATM. In this role, he leads or advises several SESAR Work Packages with respect to MET support to ATM. He provides advice on MET Support to ATM matters to the European Commission, EASA and SESAR Joint Undertaking. Furthermore, he is a member of global ICAO groups in their efforts to improve the global regulatory framework with respect to aeronautical meteorology.

Georg Schiefer: Sales Director, Flugwerkzeuge’s (F:WZ)
 
Georg’s educational background ranges from Grammar and High school in Vienna to a degree in Business Administration from the University of Economics Vienna. He went through pilot training in the USA and holds an ATP.
 
Georg spent most of his working career in aviation companies, starting out in positions as Punctuality Manager, Head of Dispatch and Director of Operations Control and Dispatch at Austrian Airlines. During his years at Austrian, Georg was responsible for implementing Electronic Route Manuals and Electronic Take Off and Landing Performance Calculation on individual Pilot laptops and introducing flight planning automation. In 2001 Georg moved on to become Head of Marketing and Sales at Swissair Flight Support and later Director Sales at Lido FlightNav in Zurich, where he was responsible for worldwide sales of paper and electronic charts and FMS databases. In 2003 Georg joined f:wz and has been responsible for sales at f:wz, which became a 100% subsidiary of Sabre Airlines Solution in September 2010, since then. In addition to his activities in the aviation world, Georg build up the company „Gutesin Gläsern“, which specialises in producing highest quality Pasta Sauces and Pestos and serves the Delicatessen Market in Austria. Georg resides with his wife and son in Vienna, Austria.

Matt Bradley: VP Business Development, FLYHT
 
Matt has over 20 years experience in miliary and commercial aviation.  Matt began his career in the Canadian Air Force as an instructor before serving as a CF 18 fighter pilot with 416 Sqn out of 4 Wing in Cold Lake Alberta.  Upon leaving the military in 1995, Matt flew the Airbus A330/320/319 for ten years, and as an instructor pilot (TRI), he became a strong advocate for fuel conservation.  He brings a solid understanding of the challenges and opportunites in airline fuel management and continues this work at FLYHT by assisting the software teams in building innovative, practical tools for measuring compliance with fuel saving operational procedures.

Professor Rod Smith: MA(Oxon) MA PhD ScD(Cantab) FREng CEng FIMechE, Insitution of Mechanical Engineers
 
Professor Smith was previously Head of Mechanical Engineering of two of the major Departments in the country: Sheffield University and Imperial College London. He is currently Royal Academy of Engineering / Network Rail Research Professor of Advanced Railway Engineering at Imperial College.
 
Professor Smith edited Part F (Rail & Rapid Transit) for 10 years. He has been an elected Member of Council for 6 years and Trustee for 3 years. Previously, he was Vice-Chair of the Technical Strategy Board, and is now Chair, Regional Strategy Board.
 
Currently, he is Trustee of the Science Museum and member of the Advisory Committee of the National Railway Museum.
 
His major research interests are technical strategy for railways and structural integrity, but he is increasingly concerned with energy and sustainable development.

Sergio Martins: CEO & Founder, LinkSMART
 
Sergio Martins – CEO & Founder of LinkSMART, a graduated Electrical Engineer, with MBA in Executive Administration and Pos-Graduation in Marketing and Branding Development, gathers over twenty five years of experience in the air transport industry, in areas as air traffic control, flight dispatch, flight operations engineering and air/ground communication projects.
 
Between 1993 and 2008, Sergio Martins actively led data link  implementation process in Latin America and the Caribbean, making friends and building credibility as one may testify by visiting the “Customer Testimonies” section of company’s website (www.linksmart.com.br).

Alexandre Feray: Managing Director, Open Airlines
 
Alexandre Feray is a graduate from Ecole Centrale Paris, one of the top French engineering school. He has been working for the airline industry since 1999. Alexandre was the head architect of Air France’s new OCC reengineering project and then became the head of the Flight Ops IT department where he implemented more than 40 innovative projects. In late 2006, he founded OpenAirlines, a company providing consulting and innovative software solutions to optimize the flight operations of the airlines. In three year’s time, OpenAirlines has won contracts with a dozen of companies including major ones such as Air France (Delivery of the new crew rostering system), KLM (renewal of the OCC decision support system), Jeppesen or EADS, and is leading the Clean Sky CARING project, investing 1M€ in the future of an environmental friendly aviation. Concerned by that matter and focusing on airlines’ cost reduction, he has led the development of SkyBreathe, the first solution to compute and monitor IATA Fuel Book’s best practices for an airline’s operations. SkyBreathe also acts as an Environmental management system ready for EU ETS.

Siow Litingtung: Consultant, OSyS
 
Siow Litingtung is a Consultant at Optimized Systems and Solutions (OSyS). Based in Derby, England, Litingtung leads operational fuel modelling for OSyS.
Prior to assuming his consultant role in January 2010, Litingtung spent 10 years in various groups within Rolls-Royce plc. During this period, Litingtung has held a variety of technical performance roles within the Rolls-Royce Civil Aerospace business for Trent 500, 700 and 900 large engine programs, as well as corporate & regional and military engine projects in Rolls-Royce North America.
 
He was also the Fuel Conservation Manager for easyJet within their Operations team and he managed a broad, cross-functional program of fuel conservation initiatives to deliver the corporate target for fuel burn efficiency improvement.
 
Litingtung holds a B.Sc. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the University of Washington and a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering with emphasis on propulsion and aeromechanics from Purdue University.

Paul Finklestein: VP Marketing, Pratt & Whitney
 
Paul Finklestein is the Vice President of  Marketing for Pratt & Whitney’s Large Commercial Engines . He has Marketing responsibility for all Pratt & Whitney products and services world wide. His current focus is to ensure that PurePower PW1000G Engine Family continues it’s success in the marketplace.
 
Paul joined Pratt & Whitney in 1979 and has held numerous positions in engineering, program management and customer service organizations. Prior to leading the marketing activity, Paul was the Program Director for the PW4000 engine family, and then most recently the Regional Director of Customer Service in the Asia Pacific region.
 
Paul holds a bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boston University, a masters degree in Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master degree in Business Adminstration from the University of Connecticut.

Capt Dr.h.c Chris Schroeder: Head of Corporate Social Responsability Environment & Fuel Optimization Qatar Airways
 
Capt. Chris Schroeder is in charge of Corporate Social Responsibility Environment & Fuel Optimization in Qatar Airways.
 
During his 20 years commercial flying career with the United Nations and major airlines in Asia and the Middle East he accumulated close to 13.000 hours on aircraft such as the Boeing 747 and the Airbus A320, A330 & A340. He held several senior management, consultant and advisor positions with several organizations. 
 
Capt. Schroeder holds several Master Degrees in Aviation Science and Airlines Management, an MBA and an IATA Diploma in Operations Management. He has also been awarded with the Texas Honorary Citizenship and with a Doctor of University from Trinity.

Michael Brandes: Managing Director Europe, Sabre, Airline Solutions

Michael Brandes is responsible for the development of Sabre Flight Explorers’ business in Europe and the management of related activities including acquisition of European data services. He is a former Vice President of IABG, a 1,200-person technical services firm based in Germany. He has more than 20 years experience in civil aviation. He also served as Programme Manager for traffic and communication systems at ESG (Munich). Further experience includes positions at Trend Micro (Munich) and Red Cube (Zurich). For many years Michael Brandes was a consultant to the German ATC authority (DFS) in ICAO standardization work such as Mode S or ATN. He is a graduate of the Technical University in Braunschweig and holds a Ph.D. in electronics/telecommunication.

Frederic Falice: Director Environmental Program, SITA
 
Frédéric Falise is heading the Environment Division for SITA. As an organization founded by the Airline Industry to build common IT and telecommunication solutions to support the Air Transport Industry. SITA has a significant community role to play to help the airlines to cope with the environmental regulation. Frédéric is regularly consulted by the industry, the policy maker and the NGO on the implementation aspect of environmental regulation. Strong with more than a 25 years international experience in the IT industry, a Master in Computer Science complemented with Electrical Engineering and energy production Frédéric has focused the last years in using technology to support environment regulations. His focused on bridging the aviation world with the policy maker, accredited verifiers and law firms. Fluent in English, French and German he regularly talks to conference on the above topics.

Captain Marcel Martineau: President and CEO TFM Aviation Inc.
 
Marcel’s flight experience extends from 1968 when he was a fighter pilot for the Canadian Arms Forces, flying CF101 Voodoo aircraft to a successful career with Air Canada, where he was a Senior Captain on Airbus 330 and 340 aircraft.  Over his career Marcel accumulated in excess of 18,000 flying hours.

In addition to his line experience, Marcel spent seven years as part of Air Canada’s Management Team, five of which were in the capacity, Manager Flight Operations Fuel Programs and later as Technical Advisor specializing in Cost Index Optimization.

Over the past five years Marcel has participated in operational reviews at over 50 airlines to assist in identifying areas where fuel savings could be realized.  Not only were initiatives suggested to increase overall efficiency, but also he performed onsite work to assist several airlines in the implementatiion of new operational procedures.
 
 
 
As well Marcel has  been involved with numerious projects including teaching Fuel Management and Operational Efficiency Courses for IATA and the Arab Airline Company Organization, developing an Environmental Gas Emission software tool for Transport Canada Development Centre, and providing consulting services for both Airlines and industry.

Alain Goethals: IT Manager, Thomas Cook Airlines in Belgium
 
Alain Goethals is the IT Manager of Thomas Cook Airlines in Belgium, one of the 5 airlines of the Thomas Cook Group.
Alain joined Thomas Cook for the start-up of the Belgian AOC in January 2002.
He successfully implemented Lufthansa Systems' Netline Suite and the MRO system AMOS. He was also leading the implementation of the Aviaso/Portal as well as the Aviaso/EU-ETS and Aviaso/ART (Airline Reporting Tool).
 
With 30 years of Airline experience, Alain worked for 5 different airlines during his career. Prior to Thomas Cook Airlines, in 1982, Alain developed a graphical Scheduling, Operation and Movement Control system for Trans European Airways. He successfully implemented OpenRes as launch customer of Navitaire during the startup of the Low Cost Airline EuroBelgian Airlines/Virgin Express, where he also implemented AIMS as Operational platform. Alain studied Veterinary Medicine at the (VUB) Vrije Universiteit Brussels, is maried, has one daughter, and lives in Brussels, Belgium.

Julien Dufour, CEO, VerifAvia SARL, VerifAvia (UK) Ltd & SustainAvia
 
 
Julien has over 12 years of experience in the aviation sector. As an international aviation consultant, Julien worked on aviation projects for airlines, airports, governments and financial institutions in over 30 countries. Julien started his carrier as a business analyst with Air France before joining international aviation consultancy SH&E in London as a Senior Consultant. He then worked as a freelance consultant on several consulting projects on behalf of IATA and SH&E. Julien was also Commercial Director of Armavia Airlines.

Early 2009, after a terrible headache trying to understand the EU ETS directive and the monitoring and reporting guidelines, he set up SustainAvia to provide technical assistance to aircraft operators in the area of EU ETS. In less than half a year, SustainAvia provided EU ETS services to more than 30 airlines and business jet operators in four continents.
 
Early 2010, Julien set up VerifAvia, a verification body of greenhouse gas emissions under the EU ETS Directive. VerifAvia is now the leading aviation-specific accredited verification body. VerifAvia is approved as an aviation verifier in nearly all EU countries and provides flexible, efficient and cost-effective verification services to airlines and business jet operators. Julien is based in Paris and is also a private pilot.
