Thanos Kaponeridis: President and CEO AeroSoft Systems Inc
 
Thanos Kaponeridis is the founder of the AeroSoft Systems Inc. established in Toronto Canada in 1997. He has brought AeroSoft from a start-up through organic and inorganic growth with development, acquisitions and equity investments to become a financially strong niche player in the M&E Systems marketplace.
 
Thanos has built up his aerospace and aviation experience since engaging at Bombardier Regional aircraft in 1992 where he managed the development of the iSPEC2200 compliant digital document systems for the CRJ and Q100. He was a long-standing member of the ATA/EMMC/TICC eText and FOWG since 1994 in the development of digital document standards. Prior to Bombardier, Thanos was an accomplished IT/IS senior consultant with his own firm and prior to that with the Transition Group - the Canadian subsidiary of Gartner Group, offering strategic and tactical planning of IT/IS to multi-national corporations. Mr. Kaponeridis holds a Bachelor of Applied Science from University of Toronto in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science from University of London (UK) in Ergonomics / Human Factors.

Martin Boyer: Sr. Director Operation IT Systems, Air Canada
 
In 1985, Martin Boyer joined Air Canada as an Electronics Engineer. Today, he serves as Sr Director Operation IT systems and is directly responsible for managing extensive re-engineering programs to transform Air Canada’s operational systems. These programs include crew assignments, flight planning, and weight and balance air-to-ground communications as well as the entire Maintenance and Engineering systems suite. Mr. Boyer also has the overall responsibility of the Air Canada Project Management Office.
 
In fulfilling his current responsibilities, Mr. Boyer leverages an impressive career which spans over two decades and includes diverse operational positions. Prior to his current position, he served as Program Director Netline Program, Vice-President Operation Destina (Air Canada’s subsidiary, E-commerce) General Manager of Customer Service for the Eastern Region and was responsible for airport operations at Air Canada’s International Airport and Montreal-Dorval International Airport, Quebec-Jean Lesage. His other positions for the airline included: Senior Director of Solution Processing, Director of Customer Service, Manager of Service Automation, Senior Specialists in the Advanced Technology Group, Head of the Automatic Ticketing and Boarding Pass Project, Head of Network Engineering, Group leader of Installation Support, and Telecommunications Engineer.
 
Mr. Boyer’s various roles at Air Canada have kept him on the leading edge of the airline’s progressive move toward optimization across all categories of operations. These roles saw him lead initiatives ranging from establishing technical support centers in global locations, supervising teams of as many over 1,000 people and multi-million dollar budgets, establishing new technology platforms, overseeing key outsourcing contracts, operational research and relocation projects, and identifying emerging technological trends to advance the airline’s telecommunications and operational performance.
 
Mr. Boyer is a published author and presenter on numerous topics, including his “Mémoire de Maîtrise”, an acquisition system and analysis of data for a neurology laboratory, and “Acquisition and Analysis of Neurophysiological Data in Real Time, Controlled by Computers Running Parallel,” which he presented at both an IEEE Engineering in Medicine & Biology Society conference and at the University of Montreal.
 
He holds an MBA, M.Sc.A in Information Technology/Communications and B. Eng in Electrical Engineering from the Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal.

Per Jensen: Managing Director & Founder, Air Support
 
Worked initially as a software engineer for various Danish companies developing navigation and calibration programs for mine-sweepers, submarines and amphibian vehicles while functioning as corporate pilot. Pursued thereafter a professional flying career and worked initially 10 years as full time commercial pilot with PIC experience in various jet and turboprop aircraft flying in Europe and North America as well as 2 years experience with arctic operations in Greenland. On basis of the gained operational experience Per Jensen invented the PPS Preflight Planning System in the late 80’ties which led to the foundation of the AIR SUPPORT company 20 years ago. The company ranks today among the world’s Top 5 flight planning system providers. Responsible for the daily management of AIR SUPPORT, coordinated program development, special modules support and development, data integration projects with 3rd party systems and business development projects. Flies from time to time as pilot on the company’s corporate aircraft OY-PPS. Former ATPL – Air Traffic Pilot Licence, now current CPL – Commercial Pilot Licence with ME/IR rating.

Paul-Antoine Calandreau: Flyable RFID Project Manager, Airbus
 
Paul-Antoine Calandreau has joined Airbus in 2004 within the Customer Services strategy group. He was then working as business developer on new projects for improved support and services to airlines customers. In this role he came across the first RFID deployments in Airbus and finally joined in 2007 the Value Chain Visibility & Auto-ID team when it was created.
 
Paul-Antoine is currently in charge of all RFID & Auto-ID technologies applications after the aircraft entry into service. In scope of this Flyable stream are various types of projects: for example consulting services projects for airlines and MRO organizations or A350 part marking project (having RFID tags on A350 aircraft parts for maintenance purposes).
 
Also he has been representing Airbus in various standardization groups such as ATA Spec 2000 working group that have defined the data format for tags on aircraft parts.

Jim Buckalew: Director of Maintenance Planning, AirTran Airways
 
 
Jim Buckalew is Director of Maintenance Planning, Publications and Technology.  In 2000, Jim joined AirTran to lead the planning and systems technology implementation for maintenance and engineering. With the successful implementation of the Trax Software system he continues to leverage business intelligence technology in all areas to help maintain one of the lowest CASM benchmarks in the industry. Prior to AirTran, Jim worked for Southwest Airlinesfor six years. Jim led the implementation of teh Maxi-Merlin system for aircraft records, maintenance planning and developed long-range forecasting models for the maintenance program as Manager of Strategic Planning. Prior to Southwest, Jim was Director of Maintenance Planning at Hawaiian Airlines. While at Hawaiian he lead the MRO system implementation of Maxi-Merlin for teh maintenance and engineering group including reliability, records, production control and financial analysis. Jim earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration in Aviation from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His undergraduate studies at Embry-Riddle focused on Aviation Maintenance Management, FAA A&P Mechanic and Pilot licenses. Jim is married, has three children and resides in Atlanta, Georgia.

Michael Wm. Denis: Founder, Aviation Wikinomics
 
Michael Wm. Denis is the Founder of Aviation Wikinomics, Inc., a global consultancy focused exclusively on innovation of airline, aerospace and defence aircraft lifecycle sustainment capabilities.
Michael has over twenty-two years experience in managing maintenance operations and advising tier one airlines, aerospace manufacturers and third party MRO companies. His current research is focused on the use of disruptive technologies in the optimization of revenue generation versus aircraft sustainment costs across the various lifecycle phases of complex assets, as well as Software as a Service and Business Process Outsourcing.
Prior to Aviation Wikinomics, Michael was a co-founder of Blue Water Solutions, Inc. with Dr. John B. Kirk and Malcolm B. “Mac” Armstrong, LTG / USAF retired. Michael began his technology career at Accenture, where he was the Global Director, Aviation Maintenance Solutions. Michael served twelve years in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer and Gas Turbines Engineer.
Michael attended the Georgia Institute of Technology earning a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering and holds a Master of Decision Science from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University. He is a member of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences, the American Society of Quality and the Six Sigma Forum.
A native of Houston, Texas, Michael currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife, Jackie, and son, Kyle, while daughters Ashley and Courtney attend the University of Georgia and Kennesaw State University, respectively.

Robert J. Rencher: Sr. Systems Engineer Assocoiate Technical Fellow, Boeing
 
Mr. Rencher is responsible for defining and implementing the strategic architecture for the global technical infrastructure for integrated information solution initiatives at the Boeing Company. 
Mr. Rencher has over 25 years of experience in the Information Technology industry, spanning all aspects of system design and operational support including: system engineering, application architecture, data resource management and strategic Information System planning. In the most recent five years he has been successful in advising and establishing strategic Information Technology direction with airlines around the world.
His participation in the industry includes teaching information technology related courses at the University of Washington and publishing papers for several international aviation and technical conferences.
Mr. Rencher considers the emergence of cooperative aviation ecosystem, dependent upon information accuracy, an opportunity of significant value to improve operational efficiency and increased customer value.

Jonathan Yaron: Chairman & CEO, Enigma
 

Jonathan Yaron, Chairman & CEO at Enigma, Inc., is a co-founder of the company, which was incorporated in 1992. Under his management, Enigma has emerged as the leading provider of aftermarket service and support solutions for aerospace & defense, airlines, manufacturers, operators and dealers of capital equipment.

Mr. Yaron, a strong proponent of using structured information standards to drive e-commerce initiatives, is a frequent presenter at industry conferences and has spoken on a wide variety of topics, including e-business, XML, and content-driven e-commerce.

Mr. Yaron is frequently quoted as an expert by leading publications, including Industry Week and Air Transport World. Prior to founding Enigma, Mr. Yaron spent ten years working in the military. He holds a BSc. in Economics and Management.

Sam Issac: Manager, Airport Operations Finance, Etihad Airways
 
Sam Issac have over a decade of experience in the airline industry. He is the leader for implementing major cost management systems for major airlines. An Innovative, Analytical, Process Re-Engineering expert, Project management expert, Cost Control initiatives and Implementation of systemsand procedures are his strength.

He is currently working a Manager- Airport Operations Finance with Etihad Airways (National Carrier of UAE) in Abu Dhabi. Prior to it he was associated with Emirates Airlines.

Scot Struminger: Vice President, FedEx Services
 
Scot Struminger is Vice President of Airline Technology, FedEx Services. He joined FedEx in 1986 and has managed IT operations in Field Service, Depot Maintenance, Customer Service, Financial Systems, Payroll, Human Resources, Accounts Receivable, Purchasing, Tax, Legal, Treasury, Sales and International Trade. His current responsibilities are IT operations in FedEx Canada and Airline Technology with concentration on strategic projects which create a sustainable competitive advantage for FedEx Air Operations and its customers.
 
Scot's has managed teams up to 350 strong with budgets in excess of 100M. His direct reports have been geographically dispersed with teams in Pittsburgh, Colorado Springs, Orlando, Memphis and Toronto.     
 
Scot is four time recipient of FedEx’s Five Star Award, the highest honor awarded to a FedEx employee. He has enjoyed tremendous success in his career and is well known for bringing an outstanding business perspective to the IT team.

Bud Sittig: President, Flight Guidance LLC
 
Lawrence A. 'Bud' Sittig is a consultant in the aviation industry with a broad background in airline operations. He has keen interest in advancing a wireless / paperless cockpit environment and in the deployment of Class II Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) technology across the industry. 
 
Most recently, he was Vice President of Operations for Skybus Airlines. Captain Sittig had operational oversight of Skybus' Flight Operations including pilots, flight attendants, flight dispatchers, crew resources, technical publications library, operations technology and all corporate training. 
As the Vice President of Operations, he led the FAA Air Carrier Certification process for Skybus spanning over two years. While leading the 121 certification, he built the airline infrastructure to support a Flight Operation designed to grow to 75 aircraft. He was the architect of a revolutionary flight deck technology design that established teh airline on the cutting edge of Class II EFB and a paperless document management system. 
Prior to joining Skybus, Captain Sittig held the positions of GM Flight Operations, Chief Pilot and Director of Flight Safety at Delta. He has accumulated over 15,000 flying hours in his years of military, airline and sport aviation adventures. 
Captain Sittig is an active outdoorsman and remains engaged in managing the family farm in South Dakota. He and his wife, Fran, reside in German Village, Columbus, OH. Together they raised three daughters and now enjoy four lively grandchildren.

Richard Hayden: President, AeroMechanical Services Ltd. - FLYHT
 
Richard Hayden became President of AMS-FLYHT (www.flyht.com) in August 2008, after serving as Vice President Strategic Programs for Meggitt, plc’s Sensor Systems Division. Since 1984, he has been involved in leading teams that developed and introduced into service advanced systems for aircraft diagnostics, self reporting, and maintenance information, as well as airport environmental reporting systems. Most notable among these was the Integrated Mechanical Diagnostics-Health and Usage Management System (IMD-HUMS), now manufactured by Goodrich and the Airport Noise and Operations Monitoring System (ANOMSTM), now provided by Bruel & Kjaer. In the past year, AMS-FLYHT has doubled revenues of its Automated Flight Information Reporting System (afirsTM), now serving over 25 operators in 6 continents. New capabilities introduced in the past year include a fuel and emissions management capability called FIRSTTM (Fuel Initiative Reporting System Tracker), and FLYHTstreamTM, a revolutionary real time position and data streaming capability.

Jeffery Oboy: Management Advisor, m2p Consulting
 
Jeffery Oboy is a Management Advisor with m2p Consulting. In 2007 Jeffery joined m2p and was based initially out of their Frankfurt offices but has since been transferred to New York. Jeffery has been recently supporting a major Middle Eastern carrier and British carrier in the areas of crew management. With regards to the Middle Eastern airline, Jeffery supported its Flight Training department with the optimization of planning and its crew management department with the engineering of new cabin/flight crew departure & briefing processes. As for his work in England, Jeffery and his team recently carried out a Crew Management Health Check identifying opportunities for increased crew productivity and cost reduction. Jeffery earned a degree in Mathematics from Purdue University, is engaged to a USAF KC-10 pilot and currently resides at McGuire AFB in New Jersey.

Evan Butler-Jones: Manager of Product Marketing, Mxi Technologies
 
Evan Butler-Jones is the Manager of Product Marketing at Mxi Technologies. Since joining Mxi in 2001, Evan has had extensive experience working with aviation organizations worldwide to help them implement successful maintenance solutions.
As Product Marketing Manager, Evan is responsible for analyzing and trending customer and market requirements in order to continually improve Mxi’s offerings to the marketplace.
The knowledge that Evan has gained in the field has translated into a specialization in the application of technologies and business solutions to address the unique operational requirements of many types of maintenance organizations - Airline, OEM, and Defence.
Evan holds an Aerospace Engineering degree from Carleton University.

Nick Ward: Aviation Consultant, Optimized Systems & Solutions
 
Nick Ward joined Rolls-Royce in 1988 as a software developer and IT consultant, and In 1999 Rolls-Royce created Data Systems & Solutions as a centre of excellence for data acquisition and analysis. Nick moved across to the new company as a consultant, specialising in helping customer organisations understand and release value through their data.
 
Over the previous 20 years, Nick has been active across multiple markets including Civil Aviation, Defence Aerospace, Nuclear, Rail (infrastructure & rolling stock) and Marine(surface and subsurface); all markets differentiated by the operation of critical assets in highly regulated industries.

Dave Roberts: Director of Airline and Flight Operations, Sabre
 
Dave Roberts is a Director, Airline and Flight Operations, for Sabre Airline Solutions. As such, he is responsible for formulating strategies relating to flight operations, crew management, and airport operations solutions offered by Sabre Airline Solutions as well as developing market research for flight operations-related ventures. Currently, more than 220 airlines depend on Sabre AirCentre Enterprise Operation solution’s providing Roberts with a strong background in global day-of-operations and System Operations Centers (SOC). Roberts joined Sabre Inc. in 1996 as a strategic planner for airport and flight operations automation, areas where he has extensive experience. Prior to Sabre, he worked in the SOC for Eastern Airlines and led the development of the automated weight and balance system. He then centralized the weight and balance offices into two locations for the entire Eastern Airlines system. Next he managed the airport automation and the Airport of the Future projects for Unisys. His assignments included incorporating airport, airline and passenger automation into one strategic direction. Roberts served in the United States Army as a flight operations and personnel specialist. Roberts holds a BBA degree in Management and Marketing from Georgia State University where he also undertook graduate studies in aviation management. He has presented papers on airport automation at IATA, ACI, and ATTIS conventions around the world.

Paul Priddle: Associate Partner, Aviation MRO Practice
 
Paul is an Associate Partner in SAKS Consulting’s Aviation MRO Practice. Paul has extensive Program and Project Management experience of ERP implementations. He has been involved in implementation projects where he has programme managed large Tier 1 airline MRO implementations, led process workshops, communicated and presented to senior and executive management and led communication planning to name a few areas. He has controlled large project budgets and is used to managing large teams. Fernando Matos: Head of Information Technologies, TAP Maintenance & Engineering 
 
Fernando Matos joined TAP Maintenance & Engineering in 1980, to work in the Maintenance Planning Department. Later on he moved into the M&E IT Department that he heads since 2005.
In 1991 he was Project Manager for the development and implementation of TAP M&E Information Strategy Plan.
From 1994 he coordinated the in-house development of the Integrated IT Platform COSMOS that supports the entire operation of TAP Maintenance & Engineering.
For more than one year he has also been in charge of the IT Department of TAP affiliate, TAP Maintenance & Engineering Brazil, having the responsibility for the modernization of its IT infrastructure and the integration of operational systems between Portugal and Brazil.
He is a Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering graduate by the Lisbon Technical University, Instituto Superior Técnico.
Fernando has two sons, a dog, lives between Lisbon, Portugal, and Porto Alegre, Brazil, and has a passion for jazz.

Guido Harling: Executive Director and Founder, Task4Aviation BmbH
 
Guido Harling is founder of Tasc4Aviation.com the aviation consultancy company with special focus on cost cutting and efficiency increasing initiatives for the aviation industry. His second company, ETSverification.com, offers verification services within the framework of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme for aviation. Guido has a long lasting consulting and management accounting background. He holds a bachelor of science (Dipl. Chem. Ing.) and a master of business (Dipl. Wirt. Ing.) degree. He started his career at Vodafone (formerly Mannesmann) Datenverarbeitung North America in 1995 where he was in charge of supporting the SAP Financials modules of all Mannesmann US subsidiaries. Thereafter he took over a business consultant position at KPMG US where he specialized in the in depth knowledge of most ERP and sales systems that are employed at airlines or airports and the financial processes that they support. Since 2005 he is managing projects in the aviation and transportation area as a subject matter expert and partner for IATA, supporting the rollout of the SIS (Simplified Interline Settlement) program and IATA InvoiceWorks the internet e-Invoicing platform.
Finally in 2009 he his own two consulting companies with worldwide reach, Tasc4Aviation and ETSverification, which he operates out of his home base in Münster, Germany.
