Welcome
After more than two years away we are delighted to welcome you back to the Airline & Aerospace MRO & Flight Operations IT Conference – AMERICAS, once again taking place in Miami, FL, USA.
Since we have been away, the Covid-19 crisis has changed aviation. Over the 10 years we have been hosting this IT conference, much of the talk has been about the benefits of digitization with integrated and enhanced IT platforms for airlines, aircraft operators and MROs, but adoption of these technologies has been slow. However, Covid-19 has brought about a noticeable change in priorities; IT is now recognized as the heart of any modern airline, and the key enabler for recovery and prosperity going forwards.
As if Covid-19 were not enough of a challenge, the terrible events in Ukraine, and the knock-on global effect of rising fuel prices and increased cost of living, have highlighted that it is even more important that airlines and MROs have the best modern IT solutions in use to ensure that they are able to be as agile, flexible and fast as possible to cope with whatever instability or changes might occur in the future.
With IT now front and centre for airline and MRO infrastructure, the 2022 Aircraft Commerce series of MRO & Flight Ops IT conferences is without doubt our most important ever, with the exhibition space for the leading software and hardware vendors showcasing their latest solutions quickly selling out (record number of exhibitors in Miami!). Following a hugely successful EMEA region event in London at the beginning of June (click on Videos / Photos tab above), we are bringing the event back to the AMERICAS region in Miami in September, and then to the APAC region and Bangkok in October (click here for that event).
The event offers unprecedented opportunities for airlines and MROs to meet vendors, discuss their own challenges and priorities, and see demos of the latest and leading software solutions. Airlines and MROs who have already taken the first steps to post-Covid recovery and digitization with new and modern IT solutions will be sharing their experiences in the conference agenda, plus there will be the established line-up of industry experts, vendor showcases, workshops, and more to help you unravel and understand this brave new post-Covid world and the opportunities available to airlines and MROs that embrace an IT driven future.
We are also proud to announce that by working with specialist partners, this conference will officially be a carbon neutral event. We are excited to welcome you all back in person, and urge you to register to attend this event. We look forward to seeing you in Miami in September.

Pre-conference – Making Optimal use of M&E / MRO Software Masterclass Workshop.
Includes Refreshment Break: 15:30 – 16:00
Workshop Overview:
(Workshop / Showcase room)
IT industry leaders worldwide have all given testimony and credence to the reality that the rate of IT adoption over the past 2 years has been four to six times that which was experienced pre-COVID-19. The rate of technology innovation and advancements with MRO software has far outpaced adoption by MRO business units.
So where is your organization on that maturity cycle? Have you accelerated adoption by least four times or are you still behind? Making optimal use of existing software applications starts with qualitatively and quantitatively analyzing business functions usage and adoption versus your available technology capabilities.
Defining opportunities from that analysis and setting a strategy for improvements should then follow. Additionally, embedding a culture of continuous improvement and standardizing the handling of software releases to stay current is a common challenge to be addressed.
This workshop will focus on how to optimize the use of your existing M&E / MRO IT systems and covers the following key issues:
- How well are your current M&E / MRO business functions and processes enabled with available technology? Are available systems used efficiently and to their full potential for the business?
- Does the Maintenance organization have the right decision support information in a comprehensive and timely fashion?
- What is the integrity of the data? Do all stakeholders trust it, or do they have their own methods of capture? Is there one source of truth?
- How well are you keeping up with system releases and emerging industry trends? Are you on the latest versions? How do you stay abreast of any advancements in business processes and corresponding software impacts?

Aircraft Maintenance IT Modernization – if not now, when? And how?
IT industry leaders worldwide have stated that the rate of IT adoption over the past 2 years has been as much as five times higher when compared to pre-COVID-19 rates. Projects slated for completion as far ahead as 2026 were accelerated and some are now completed. In many respects, these were necessary for business continuity. The rate of technology advancements with Aviation MRO software has always far outpaced adoption by MRO businesses: at least seven of the top 10 MROs globally are on legacy or home built applications which are at least three versions behind. Similarly, many large airlines (>150 aircraft) still continue to run M&E software solutions which are static, more than four versions behind and /or contain remnants of legacy software which are very much alive with no planned retirement dates.
We have also seen international phenomena tagged as ‘The Supply Chain Crisis’ and ‘The Great Resignation’ emerging in 2021 and continuing well into 2022. What strategy should airlines, operators and MROs adopt for MRO IT modernization which addresses these situations? The rise of several strategies including digital twins, low-code/no-code approaches, cloud architectures, citizen developers etc. have expanded the several avenues for modernization. This Keynote will explore this modernization topic in some detail.

Case Study: Delta Air Lines: Building New Technology to Enable Complete Digital Data Transformation by Connecting Airlines and MROs in a New Way
Delta Air Lines relies on data from multiple sources to manage their maintenance activities, but it has become increasingly important to provide true, accurate, and real-time aircraft status reporting for both the airline’s fleet, regardless of vendor, location, or system. This case study focuses on a new solution developed by Delta Air Lines along with long-term software partner EmpowerMX, which is enabling the collection of that data, the transformation to a common format, and the loading into target systems for robust ability to process and analyze aircraft being maintained throughout the world. Using standard deviation metrics, that distilled data is presented in a manner that is simple, clear, and accurate. All aircraft are displayed according to the user’s preferences, all assumptions are plainly understood, and the right information is available to those that need it most; nothing more and nothing less. Using drill down capability, constraints can be isolated in real-time for appropriate action. Never before have 40 lines of outsourced maintenance been more effectively managed. Items that require attention will float to the top; right where they belong.
Kristin Johnson, Duty Manager, Delta Techops
Tom Davis, Chief Commercial Officer, EmpowerMX

EFB Latest Developments, and What’s Next?
The Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), was at the forefront of digital transformation within aviation. Now that EFB is an established technology and used by the majority of airlines, how are EFBs evolving within the next wave of digital transformation projects? What are the latest developments? How does the EFB fit into the overall IT landscape of an airline – stand-alone or now part of a wider technology platform? What’s next for EFB, and will the technology be used within the next great industry disrupter: eVTOLs / Drones?
In this presentation, all these questions will be addressed, including looking at integrating the EFB with other systems, such as automatic fetching of QAR data and sending to the back-office system and/or service providers like L3 Harris /Flight Data Systems. As most EFBs now are connected both on the ground and in the air, the vital aspect of Cyber Security within the EFB environment will also be discussed.

The Future of Safety Management Data
Safety Management and Digital Transformation aren’t subjects that instinctively go hand in hand. Many Safety Professionals are second-class citizens when it comes to tapping into the latest data resources and capabilities. Revenue-generating initiatives tend to have a priority, having more evident returns on investment compared to those promoting a positive safety culture. How can advancements in data science, data engineering, and data analytics make airlines and maintenance providers safer and more profitable? What are the data technology trends that are going to reshape safety management in the future? In this talk, Paul Saunders brings out his crystal ball and triangulates the current technological trajectory to show what Safety Management in the 2030s might look like, and how we might build digital transformation business cases for the less sexy side of our industry.
Paul Saunders, Solutions Director, Vistair

Fuel Efficiency Myth Busters – Using what-if-scenarios with data-driven AI models
How to find real saving opportunities and on what areas should I focus? This simple question is being asked by everyone in flight ops divisions across the aviation market. However, these days, with available software on the market, a solution is not so easy to find. Because of that, there are popular beliefs which are far from true. During the presentation StorkJet will take a closer look at two exemplary initiatives:
1. Is Single Engine Taxi as beneficial as everyone says?
2. Is optimization of descent not possible because of ATC restrictions? Or is it the area with the highest saving potential?
All these questions can be answered by simulating what-if-scenarios with data-driven AI models. As a result, fuel managers can focus on the most beneficial areas and do not waste time on actions that do not bring results.

PIVOT: Better Connection. Better Protection.
PIVOT is the aviation industry-leading system of EFB cases and universal mounting solutions. Since its inception, EFB has revolutionized aviation, providing pilots with unprecedented situational awareness, rapid access to critical information in-flight, and a vast array of applications that make the pilot’s job easier and safer than ever before. However, to realize its full potential, EFBs must not only be protected and secured, but also easy and convenient for the pilot to use, otherwise pilots simply will not take full advantage of their EFBs. At the end of the day, EFB is only as good as the platform its installed on.
Designed by pilots for pilots, PIVOT cases offer superior EFB device protection without unnecessary weight or bulk, and integrate seamlessly with the patented PIVOT Click-Connect universal mounting system. This system is simple and intuitive. All PIVOT cases feature a mounting channel and clip that easily connect to any PIVOT mount, one-handed, in seconds. Once connected to the mount, pilots can easily rotate, adjust, and pivot their EFB as desired. This system is not only the most pilot-friendly solution on the planet, it also allows aircraft owners and operators to rapidly deploy EFB across diverse fleets of any size while minimizing costs and regulatory hurdles.
Future Proof
The tablet technology that EFB leverages is constantly evolving and rapidly changing. PIVOT allows EFB programs to keep pace, effectively future-proofing EFB programs by reducing costs associated with inevitable EFB device tech refreshes. The unique PIVOT Click-Connect universal mounting system is compatible with all PIVOT cases: past, present, and future. EFB program managers can rest assured knowing that when the time comes to refresh their EFB devices, their existing PIVOT mounts will be fully compatible with PIVOT cases for those devices. PIVOT is simply the best EFB solution available: now and in the future.
FAA Approved
Regulatory hurdles can seem daunting for aircraft operators deploying EFB. PIVOT offers a wide variety of FAA-approved mounting solutions to suit virtually any application. From entry-level solutions like suction-cup mounts, to robust Long Term Removable Mounts (LTRM™) that can remain installed on aircraft indefinitely without a permanent connection to the aircraft. This facilitates rapid EFB program deployment without waiting for an STC approval, which can take years. When the time comes to transition to an STC solution, PIVOT has you covered.
About PIVOT
In the early 2010’s tablet devices came on the scene with the introduction of devices like the Apple iPad, and EFB soon took the aviation industry by storm. Unfortunately, tablet cases available at the time were heavy, bulky, and difficult to use. Early mounting solutions were no better. Not only were they heavy, bulky, and difficult to use, they were notoriously unreliable, often detaching in-flight and creating a safety hazard. Enter PIVOT. The owner of the FlyBoys company and PIVOT inventor, Mike Schulter, was a pilot for Southwest Airlines when EFB made its aviation debut. He recognized the potential for EFB technology to revolutionize aviation and enhance safety, but couldn’t look past shortcomings inherent in cases and mounts available at the time. Knowing there had to be a better way, he and his team resolved to create an intuitive, pilot-friendly system that integrated case and mount while eliminating unnecessary weight and bulk. Thus, PIVOT was born. In 2014 Southwest Airlines became the first airline to adopt PIVOT, and since then PIVOT has become the world’s leading provider of EFB cases and mounts, currently in use globally at over 160 airlines, hundreds of military flying squadrons, and countless corporate flight departments and general aviation enthusiasts. Better connection. Better protection. PIVOT.

INNOVATE THE COCKPIT WITH TAILLOG
By eliminating the physical paperwork on both and in air, TAILLOG bridges the digital gap between pre- and post-flight activities. Through simplified, intuitive, and interactive design, the application enables the pilots to manage their pre-briefing, OFP, NavLog, fuel checks, and last minute changes while having easy access to flight details, company documents, weather charts, and NOTAMS. Ultimately, human errors will be eliminated and time consuming data management is minimized as the entire organization will benefit from multiple processes being built into the app, e.g. fuel slip management, post-flight reporting (fuel consumption, crew times and delay codes), digital journey logs, and cloud storage of completed flight logs. Utilizing cloud systems creates a data base which ensures both user flexibility, data safety, and interface options. With the cloud API both pre-flight planning, scheduling, and performance systems as well as post-flight management systems can easily be interfaced and subsequently be updated with flight details post-flight if required.
FEATURED MODULES:
Our embedded weight & balance module enables the pilot to make last minute changes of crew and PAX seating, baggage/cargo weights, and fuel load, and quickly review the consequences in the CG envelope graph and Load Manifest. Should any limits be exceeded, the pilot will be notified through alerts and colored markings of the related data fields. In-air rerouting utilizes either coordinates or pre-loaded company waypoints to deviate from the scheduled route string. The checklist module increases the flexibility of including and controlling all procedures, including journey logs, captain’s reports, engine trend monitoring and aircraft / company specific checklists. Our new TechLog feature equips the pilots with an option to log discrepancies, including pictures, that delivers an overview of the fleet health status in our backend / admin site and can be distributed directly to a CAMO or MCC department post flight. To add a safety layer during parking, TAILLOG has a security seal log function that secures the aircraft via sealed barcodes and managed directly in the application.
In the pursuit of becoming completely digital, TAILLOG teamed up with DuaLeap who developed an innovative data compression platform that offers real-time streaming of aircraft-related data. Already utilizing flight planning data for the operational flight plan functions, our joint solution can for instance enable real-time rerouting paths for optimal fuel consumption, as well as weather avoidance. In essence, our EFB will be connected in flight for accurate fuel and time monitoring, to name a few, allowing the pilots to focus on flying whilst being “truly” connected to flight-ops during the entirety of the flight.
In line with our simplified approach, TAILLOG is also exploring the usage of RPA (robotic process automatization) to eliminate time-consuming and repetitive tasks across the organization. Finally, our application is very customizable, meaning it can be slimmed if necessary, or conversely it can be further tailored specifically to replicate your current standard operating procedures.. Our users are our eyes and ears, inspiring us to improve and enhance continuously by, for example, implementing user-driven innovations such as Bluetooth synchronization, dark and landscape mode to name a few.
Please reach out if we should set some time aside. We hope to see you at our booth!

AeroSoft has deployed solutions for Tier 2, Regional and Cargo operators now for over 25 years.
We take pride in excellent customer service accompanied by competitively priced software and services as a specialised solution provider. The Aviation/Aerospace sector recognises our MRO/M&E and CMS domain and technological expertise. The company has a highly efficient development team that is backed up by an experienced implementation team able to manage and deploy the most complex environments in the shortest possible time. Our professionally trained developers work closely with our customer-facing teams. These teams are experienced as mechanics, pilots, maintenance programme auditors and planners, or purchasing/inventory managers to deliver some of the strongest domain experience in the industry .
Mr. Thanos Kaponeridis founded AeroSoft Systems Inc., which is now 25 years old, in Toronto, Canada. The company also has offices in the United States , and Europe. Our long-term customers, who have remained faithful to the AeroSoft product line for up to 20 years, are servicing over 500 aircraft in the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Over 50 airlines/MROs have installed and used our products over the last 25 years, and customer/product loyalty stretches back to the early 1990s.
AeroSoft stands out as it offers three distinct products to service the MRO/M&E community: DigiMAINT NG and WebPMI MRO Solutions, as well as DigiDOC, an industry leading digital Content Management System (CMS). This distinguishes AeroSoft from single-product suppliers such as “CMS” and “MRO.” We have experience with classic and modern MRO/M&E based on relational database structures, as well as iSPEC2200, S1000D based on SGML and XML. AeroSoft makes use of critical interaction points between MRO and CMS, such as “Job Cards” and “Maintenance Programs,” as well as other “grey areas,” to ensure the most effective data management and regulatory compliance. Content from the past that is stored in proprietary structures, as well as airlines that want to go completely digital can use PDF in conjunction with current structured content in XML to provide effective migration paths.
Our DigiDOC has been shown to work seamlessly with a variety of ‘best of breed’ MRO systems, as well as our own DigiMAINT and WebPMI. As a key implementation service, we specialize in driving the process of data transformation, migration, loading, and validation (which is typically placed on the airline) in addition to the software installation. Imbedded modules and solutions for Business Analytics (DigiREPORTS) and Logistics Planning (DigiPLAN) are included in AeroSoft systems. All our solutions are 3-tier Applications with DB Servers, WebServers, and WebBrowsers that run on Microsoft, Linux, or IBM platforms over secure connections. Java, JavaScript, NodeJS, CSS, XSLFO, XSLT, XML, MS SQL, and HTML5 are among the strategic tools used by AeroSoft.
The company enters collaborations only when the prospect for economic and/or technical cooperation warrants it.
The solid product basis of AeroSoft encompasses hundreds of years of developed and acquired technology and business logic. We don’t appreciate our customers based on the number of zeros in their top or bottom lines; we value them all equally. Our products combine the stability of a long-standing market position with the advantages of the Internet, Cloud, mobility, and other advanced technology solution-based evolution.
We are looking forward to working with you!

We ARE the team, and we HAVE the seasoned PROFESSIONALS and expertise you are looking for. We also HAVE the TECHNOLOGY!
Our ATeam Partners have spent their careers as airline TechOps and Operations business professionals. We now lead highly effective teams who are ready to help you. We have a deep bench of experienced PEOPLE. We augment your team or just run the projects for you and get it DONE!
YES! We help with IT product selection.
YES! We lead MRO and Operations business improvements and IT systems implementations.
YES! We do business process development, upgrades, testing, & training.
BUT WAIT… there’s more… 😊
Really, we are very different than other consultants. We have negotiated leading MRO and Operations software licensing (for decades), we work with ALL the systems, we have our own SECURE cloud environments for hosting, reporting and BI tools, we do SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, DaaS, FaaS and XaaS (it’s not what you think!). Many of these models are now commonplace and saving organizations LOTS of money. Let us introduce you to the CLOUD. We also have ongoing BUSINESS technical support to help the smallest to largest operators. We’re not your average help desk.
We also do A LOT the dirty work. We’re not scared, and we roll up our sleeves to achieve YOUR aerospace technology goals. We box dive in records for AIRCRAFT EIS/conformity, WE DO the data entry in your system, our A&Ps validate ADs, and we’ve counted and completed LOTS of physical inventories in warehouses. AND TRAINING! Did we mention everyone needs to be trained? We can help with some of the best train-the-trainer programs in the industry. Then, we give you the training materials.
In fact, we’re much like you and your circle of trusted friends in the industry. We are all entrepreneurs who like to solve problems. Some of us thought we wanted to retire, some of us are tired of working for big companies, but we’re all having fun, working hard together, solving problems (ok challenges…) in aerospace. We have mechanics, pilots, dispatchers, data entry clerks, C-suite business professionals, CHROs, PhDs, and CAMO post holders on the ATeam! We’re an effective team of industry veterans blended with smart, highly motivated young professionals. We have very little overhead and like to have fun helping you be successful in this otherwise very painful space. We’re affordable and deliver HUGE value.
Oh, and WE’RE HIRING! If you, or someone you know, likes our model, and want to join the ATeam, PLEASE come by and introduce yourself. We have a great network have helped with staffing too.
Please stop by our Aero ATeam table by the registration desk and meet some of the Aero ATeam professionals. Let’s talk about how we can help YOUR ATeam. We’re glad to meet you!

Carbon Neutral Event
Aircraft Commerce is proud to team up with our partners Conference Care and their Carbon Consulting team to deliver carbon neutral events in 2022.
How it works:
We’ll be using the Conference Care online Carbon Calculator to work-out the travel, accommodation and catering needs for the upcoming conference. The Carbon Calculator will be sent to all delegates to enter their travel plans and only takes a few minutes to complete. This information then enables Conference Care to work us, the event organiser to measure the overall carbon footprint of the event, offer advice on how to reduce this footprint and offset any remaining carbon tonnage of the event.
Carbon Offset Programs
We offset the carbon emissions associated with the conference by supporting projects which provide clean, renewable energy to the grid in India & Vietnam, supply innovative efficient cooking technologies to rural communities in Guatemala, treat wastewater & provide clean biogas for industry in Thailand, and help to protect the precious Amazon Rainforest against
illegal deforestation in Brazil. As well as this, Conference Care will also be planting a tree right here in the UK for every 10 tonnes of carbon emissions that we offset.
Example Programs Include:
- UK tree planting and protecting the Amazon – UK and Brazil
This project provides an opportunity to plant trees in the UK whilst also helping to protect the Amazon Rainforest - ONIL Improved Cooking Stoves – Guatemala
The ONIL Stove is a fuel-efficient stove that reduces the amount of firewood required by households by up to 58%, and results in lower emissions based on its construction. Since a very high proportion of fuel wood comes from non-renewable sources, this translates directly into reduced emission reductions from non-renewable extraction of wood. A single ONIL Stove will save between 3-4 tons of CO2e per year. - Pacajai REDD+ Project – Brazil
This project is working to prevent unplanned deforestation in native forests, which has occurred due to logging, squatting and attempts to implement pastures. - Solar power project – Vietnam
The project involves the installation and operation of Srepok 1 solar power plant with peak capacity of 50 MW. This project is located in Village 9, Ea Wer commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province, Viet Nam. The purpose of this project is to generate clean form of electricity through renewable solar energy source. The net electricity generated from this project (annual estimated electricity output is 75,606 MWh) is supplied to the national grid via the transmission line. The Srepok 1 solar power plant will use Polycrystalline panels to recover solar radiation. Polycrystalline modules are the most commonly used technology in commercial and industrial solar projets. Solar panels used in the project are imported from China, with a lifespan of 25 years. - Biogas wastewater treatment and biogas utilisation project – Thailand
This project captures methane at a Thai starch plant using two closed anaerobic wastewater treatment facilities and converts the gas into energy, partially replacing the need for fossil fuel consumption. The project has a twofold effect: it prevents methane from harming the climate and avoids thousands of tonnes of fossil fuel being burnt per year. - 199.70 MW Wind Project in Maharashtra by BWDPL – India
The main purpose of this project activity is to generate a clean form of electricity through renewable wind energy source. Bothe Windfarm Development Pvt. Ltd. is the promoter of the proposed project activity. The Project has 40 Wind Turbines of individual capacity 2MW each and 57 Wind Turbines of individual capacity 2.1 MW each in Maharashtra state of India. The total project capacity is 199.7 MW.
