David has been working in strategic airfield planning for nearly 20 years. He started his career with the British Airports Authority in the group planning function, working on development strategies for all the group’s airports. David has worked across a broad range of projects with major stakeholders including Airbus, Boeing, British Airways, Virgin, NATS, ICAO, EASA and the CAA. Some of his projects include introduction of the A380, changing the airfield design characteristics and clearance requirements, improvements to runway performance and ILS. In 2016 David was asked to deliver the airfield strategy including operational readiness for an expanded Heathrow, an ambitious and technically challenging project. He leads a small team of subject matter experts who are focused on safety, excellence with a strong change agenda.

Craig Abela is a professional Standards and Technical Pilot qualified on Boeing 757/767/777/787 and Airbus A320 series aircraft.

Serving 15 years in the Royal New Zealand Air Force, mostly flying Boeing 757 aircraft; Craig’s resume includes: military Boeing 757 display pilot, Instructor, Heads of State Pilot and Antarctica project lead pilot (Captaining the first Boeing commercial airliner to conduct Antarctic operations).

Craig served 5 years with Air New Zealand as a jet recruiter and Standards pilot (instructor) on Boeing 777s and Airbus aircraft. He was recruited by Pacific Air Express Australia in 2017 as a Standards and Technical Pilot in order to lead them through the Australian Air Operators Certificate (AOC) process. Craig has set up the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) system for the Boeing 757 fleet, Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approvals and other associated flight technical approvals for global flight operations. The Australian AOC process was accomplished in December 2018.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Aviation amongst other military and civilian regulatory qualifications.

Adams,Robert

Robert has been with Cityjet for nearly 25 years with the majority of that time working in Flight Operations. He spent 7 years as the OCC Manager where he managed all of Cityjet’s operational relationships before taking over as the Flight Operations, Planning and Control Manager in 2015.

As part of the Flight Operations senior leadership team his portfolio increased to include responsibility for OCC, Crew Planning, Crew Control, Crew Logistics, Crew Pay and BI. During this time Robert oversaw a number of key strategic projects including major system upgrades, implementations and migrations, the integration of Blue 1 into the Cityjet family, the introduction of 2 new fleets and an increase in aircraft numbers from 15 to 44.

In 2017, as Cityjet further developed their strategic relationship with SAS, Robert was heavily involved in the integration of the Cimber AOC into Cityjet with the transfer of Crew roster planning, Operational Control and Crew control from SAS to Cityjet, while also managing the introduction of a new flight planning system across all fleets and two AOC’s.

During his time in Flight operations, Robert also lead the dispatch/OCC audits for both IOSA and CARA and was central to FRM policy and the FSAG.
As of February 2018, Robert has taken up the new central position as Head of IT Integration Services within the IT department where he is responsible for management and delivery of a large portfolio of company projects.

Albert Almendro is a graduated Aeronautical engineer from the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, specialising in Aircraft engineering.

After completing his final thesis at the Institut de Maintenance Aéronautique for the Université Bordeaux 1, Albert moved to Dublin, Ireland and joined Ryanair as a Technical Services graduate engineer. During his experience in the Maintenance Control Office he was engaged on the OnAir project to provide a Wi-Fi network on-board the aircraft.

In 2014, Albert joined Vueling as a Senior Airworthiness engineer and was deeply involved in the coordination of the data-migration of the Vueling fleet from SAP into AMOS software.

He is currently working as an Aircraft Structures Engineer and AMOS Administrator where he has contributed among other projects on the automation of the daily work-packages creation for the Planning department, two AMOS upgrades and the internalisation of the Structures department, previously managed by Iberia.

He recently made a virtual and augmented reality training for maintainer; this project was done in co-innovation partnership with JAL. He built the concept and managed the Airbus Electronic Flight Bag based on iPad project, this game changer became in 2012 the first EFB with performance calculation based on iPad.

Matt started his career at Boeing as a design engineer in 787 electrical subsystems. I did an Engineering School (ISMANS) from 1996 to 1999. I have been graduate in 1999.

I have started to fly when I was 16, and had my private pilot licence at 17, in 1994.

I did the ATPL theory degree with mail order during my Engineering school.

I did my commercial pilot training in 2000. I worked few months as engineer before starting in august 2001 my first job as first officer on Embraer 120, by Octavia Airlines for executive flights. I had this first job as pilot through my engineer degree, Octavia needs someone to do a lot of job on ground.

From this first experience, I always have ground responsibilities with my pilot position.

I started to discover this world with the writing of operational manuals for the creation of Octavia and its AOC approval. I had various position since 2001: Flight Safety Officer, Quality Director, Ground Operations post holder, Flight Operations Director and CEO in an African Airlines.

I am VP Flight Operations in Transavia since June 2012, and I am still flying as Captain and line training captain.

He is also responsible for all aircraft weight and balance data on the operational side of the business and has been involved in the introduction to service of several aircraft types and the recent Project E-Fly that saw Flybe introduce the Amadeus Altea system for both Customer and Flight Management software in the summer of 2018.

Prior to joining Flybe, he was previously with Brymon Airways where his career in aviation began (joining in 1997) working within the Flight Operations administration team. As well as attending courses relating to his various roles including Flight Operations Engineering, Database & Business Rules management and Mass & Balance Theory, he is now studying for his Pilot’s Licence.

Originally set out to commence a flying career after completing a BS in Aeronautics majoring in Commercial Aviation at UND Aerospace, Marcellette left the frigid U.S. North Dakotan tundra in 2002 and her Flight Instructor job, to seek good cheese, wine and conversation in Paris (and to marry a Frenchman). The French conversation part being a bit tricky, Marcellette taught English to French professionals for over six years while adding on trainer planning and customer portfolio management. Ten years in and an MBA in International Business with honors under her belt from the International School of Management in Paris and New York, Marcellette landed a position as Marketing Manager in the Services & MRO Division at Safran Aircraft Engines after having previously gained experience in various short-term marketing, sales and technical positions in the aeronautics field. Today, Marcellette works in the “Services Innovation Factory” as Business Developer accompanying cross-functional teams in defining, testing and deploying new services both internally and with customers. Oh, and by the way, she misses flying on a daily basis but keeps up her Instructor credentials bi-annually.

Within weeks of starting his career in aviation in the Planning Division of British Caledonian Airways way back in 1977, Andy was touring Africa to research the market prospects for new routes for the airline’s fleet of 707 freighters. Borja Dosal Roiz obtained a Business Management university degree from the University of Cadiz (Spain) in 2002, after not giving up studying he achieved the Aeronautical Engineer university degree from the Catalonian University of Polytechnics (Spain) in 2007, specializing in Air Navigation.

He started his professional career in 2007 working for Iberia Airlines in Madrid, this was followed by his experience in Spanair Airlines (Barcelona) and British Airways (London) always holding the position of CAMO Avionics Engineer building up experience in both Airbus and Boeing fleets. Finally, in 2013 he settled down in Abu Dhabi and currently continues his Avionics Engineering endeavors working for Etihad Airways.

Over the recent times he has been a keynote speaker at several conferences:

Francisco has been working at Air Nostrum since it started operations back in December 1994. He first worked in the OCC department, and 6 years later he started flying on the ATR72-500 fleet. After transitioning to the CRJ 2 years later, he upgraded to Captain in 2005. Later on, he became Line Training Captain, and eventually gained is TRI and TRE.
Previous to Air Nostrum, he had worked at Air Europa’s OCC at its Palma de Mallorca base. Ha also has flight instructor experience gained in the US.

Francisco graduated from Parks College of St. Louis Univeristy in 1991 with an Aviation Management Degree, before obtaining his FAA Flight Licenses in Arizona and California. He gained UK CAA Licenses in 2000 and in 2018 he transferred them to the IAA.

Mr. Hof is the EUROCONTROL member and the chairman of the ICAO ATM Requirements and Performance Panel (ATMRPP) and chairman of the ICAO Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (GADSS) Advisory Group. Mr. Louis J. Hogge is the Engineering Flight Chief of the 416th Supply Chain Management Squadron (416 SCMS), 748th Supply Chain Management Group, Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The Group is assigned to the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. The 416 SCMS provides sustainment and support of depot repairable commodities for the F-16, A-10, and T-38. Mr. Hogge is responsible for engineering management and technical direction of the Squadron (more than 160 assigned personnel, 40 engineers) including all engineering sub-functions; avionics systems, mechanical/structural systems, and support equipment.

Mr. Hogge has performed in many technical positions through his career including Avionics Engineer in the F-16 System Program Office (SPO), Systems Engineer of secure satellite data links for L3 Communications, disposable diaper production line engineer for Kimberly Clark, Electronic Technician in the Ogden depot, Equipment Specialist in the F-4 SPO, flightline avionics Air Reserve Technician (ART) in the 419th TFW.

Mr. Hogge started his Air Force Career as an enlisted flightline avionics technician. After 6 years and 5 Permanent Change of Station (PCS) he separated from the Air Force and worked as an electronic test technician on the Trident and Space Shuttle solid rocket motor programs. Mr. Hogge returned to serve in the USAF Reserve (USAFR) first as an ART and then as a traditional reservist. He supported many USAFR deployments including several stints in support Operation Northern Watch. One notable distinction in his AF military career was the award of the AF Commendation Medal to A1C Hogge for designing and building a flightline tester and breakout box for the A-10 Stability Augmentation System. Mr. Hogge retired from the USAFR in 2001.

Mr. Hogge graduated Cum Laude from the University of Utah in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. In 2012 he graduated from the Air Force Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in Systems Engineering. The MSSE thesis topic was Effective Measurement of Reliability of Repairable USAF Systems.

His work has included image intensified and thermal imaging systems.In 1989, Mike was appalled by the tragic loss of life in the air accident at Kegworth in UK, and developed what has become a lifelong passion for the promotion and development of video camera systems aboard commercial aircraft, particularly promoting safety and security of passengers and crew.

From 1995 to 2012 Mike was MD of AD Aerospace Ltd then, after a period as a Consultant, took his current post with Latecoere in 2019. He is now working to develop the first UK subsidiary of the major French aerospace company, and to make a mark as a supplier of harnesses and cables to the aerospace, space and defence industries. Mike retains his keen interest and enthusiasm for the use of video camera systems.

Mike is a past working group chair for the European Organisation for Civil Aviation Equipment (EUROCAE) producing ED-123 (Cockpit security) having previously worked on the specification for the next generation Air Accident Recorder. Mike has spoken at various Aviation Symposia on video based security and safety including being an expert witness at an NTSB Public Hearing in 1999, and a speaker at ISASI 2003, and has been a consultant to several international committees. He is a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, where he volunteers as a Professional Registration Advisor working with young engineers.

Within Lufthansa Technik Peter held various positions before he joined the newly founded Product Division Digital Fleet Solutions recently. His areas of responsibility included innovations, product management, sales and marketing for MRO services of airliners, VIP and special mission aircraft. He served operators of Airbus, Boeing and Bombardier aircraft types.

Prior to joining Lufthansa Technik Group in 2005 Peter was Director Communications for International Aero Engines based in the USA and started his career at BMW Rolls-Royce (Rolls-Royce Deutschland) in Germany, where he was part of the development team for the BR700 engine family. He has a diploma in aerospace engineering of the Technical University in Berlin.

In the area of e-Enabled Aviation, Bruce has worked with the largest private business jet operators, many of the US and international airlines, including Southwest Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Kenya Airways, Royal Jordanian Airways and many of the aircraft manufacturers including Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, and Gulfstream. Air Informatics was invited by the U.S. Department of Commerce to participate in the Cyber Security and Aerospace Missions to the Near East, 2017 and North Africa, 2018.

Bruce and his Air Informatics team has worked extensively in the digital e-Enabled aircraft domain. Air Informatics has addressed issues regarding data and cyber security for e-Enabled aircraft such as the Boeing 787 and 737Max, Airbus A350 and A320NEO, Gulfstream 650, and GV, and Bombardier Global 5000 and 6000 aircraft. Air Informatics has tackled passenger IFE performance and privacy, aircraft connectivity, informatics, analytics, big data, and cyber security. Solutions included management, analysis and cyber security of loadable software part delivery, security logs, Airplane Health Management data, ground cellular and Wi-Fi connectivity and data transfer, aircraft and ground operational and security architectures and system. Bruce has developed Cyber Security Frameworks and Airplane Network Security Programs for several airlines, conducted aircraft systems and passenger cabin cyber security vulnerability assessment and cyber security penetration testing for commercial airliners and large cabin business jets. Air Informatics has developed tools for and conducted analysis of aircraft security logs, loadable software aircraft part management and delivery and Airplane Health data. Bruce raised the issue of data ownership over six years ago and has filed briefs on the matter with the US Government.

Prior to forming Air Informatics, Bruce was the wireless designer for the Boeing 787 Core Computing Architecture and considered an expert in the field. He has extensive experience with In-Flight Satellite and Wi-Fi Connectivity and was a Principle Investigator for the NASA Advanced Communication Technology Satellite (ACTS) where he integrated Wi-Fi data deliver into Ka / Ku band spot beam architecture. While on contract with the airlines he directly measured In-Flight Entertainment Wi-Fi performance to every passenger device and data component in the cabin.
Additionally, Bruce is the founder and President of EMSAT: Advanced Technology for Emergency Medical Services, a 501c3, non profit corporation. EMSAT is dedicated to improving prehospital emergency patient care, syndromic surveillance and the detection of emerging infectious disease through the use of advanced and emerging health informatics. EMSAT’s efforts included the demonstration of a prehospital emergency medical, emerging disease and public health response network.

In a former role, as a senior manager for Pfizer Global Infrastructure Architecture he was responsible for the Mobile Technology Strategy and Road Map. He was a past member of the Cellular Telephone and Internet Association, a member of their Wireless Internet Caucus and CIO Wireless Advisory Board.

Bruce’s professional experience also includes Lead Systems Engineer and Systems Lead Mission Controller for real time flight operations of the Voyager Spacecraft during the Uranus and Neptune Planetary encounters and the first phase of the Voyager Interstellar Mission. Prior to his work at NASA JPL, he was at the Lockheed Skunk Works in which he was flight-testing classified military aircraft. Bruce also worked in the development of wireless ad hoc mobile data networks for battlefield electronic warfare and intelligence.

Mr. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, a Masters of Arts in BioMedical Informatics from Columbia University (a joint program with the Graduate School of Arts and Science and the College of Physicians and Surgeons), and completed additional graduate work at the Columbia University, Graduate School of Business.

Juha joined Volotea in 2016 and has been working in the Barcelona HQ of the airline as Head of Standards & Procedures and Technical Pilot since 2017. He is also a Line Training Captain on the Boeing 717. Juha is actively involved in Flight Operations activities and projects such as EFB, Flight Planning System, Fuel and cost efficiency and more.

After Aeronautical Engineering studies, ab-initio flight training and some business flying, Juha started his airline career in the former SAS Group company – Blue1 – in Finland in 2003 as a first officer on Avro RJ. He became Assistant Technical Pilot less than a year later and then worked as Technical Pilot and Deputy Chief Pilot on MD90 and B717 fleets from 2006 to 2016. In addition to regular Technical Pilot duties Juha managed several projects, including implementation of a new flight planning system and takeoff and landing performance calculator and, he had a key role in EFB implementation, fuel efficiency, introduction of new aircraft fleets, producing Operations Manuals and MEL and he was Blue1 representative in the SAS Group Datalink team.

Juha also worked as a private entrepreneur and consultant and provided a turnkey selection and implementation project of a new takeoff and landing performance solution for an all cargo MD11 operator.

Apart from airline activities, Juha is co-founder of a Finnish craft beer project called Kolme Pukkia (Three Billygoats).

System analysis and development has consumed the last ten years of Michael’s career. Michael managed the Dispatch Systems business area and from here Championed the business case to replace an aging mainframe flight planning system.
Michael had various leadership roles in the numerous phases of the flight planning system replacement project. Much of Michael’s time and energy was spent as manager aeronautical information management for the flight planning future project in Qantas Flight Operations. This role was integral in pulling together the end to end flight planning solution.
As of August 2018 Michael, has taken up the new role of Manager Innovation and Support in Flight Operations overseeing the commissioning of the system and fleet roll out that culminated in the successful cutover of the final B737 fleet in June 2019.
